THE MANDALORIAN S3 - Art Directing Mandalore
The Mandalore sets, encrusted with a jagged, glassy green terrain, required a bold design and seamless virtual-physical integration.
Directed multi-department collaboration across virtual art department, virtual blocking/techvis, physical production, and VFX to develop modular builds that served three distinct environments and several flexible exteriors within the same footprint. These modular builds saved set build cost by 3X and increased installation and production efficiency.
Led collaboration with sculpting, mold-making, and paint departments to developed a custom material process that responded dynamically in the LED Volume.
Used precision scale models to align teams and empower directors with real-time shot planning and set changeovers.
