AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER — Virtual Production Integration & Workflow Leadership

A technically ambitious film layered with underwater and traditional motion capture, Avatar: The Way of Water demanded a seamless bridge between physical proxy sets and real-time virtual environments.

  • Spearheaded the Integration Department as Lead Virtual Art Director, overseeing cross-functional collaboration between set design, VFX, and performance capture teams

  • Managed and scaled a team of set designers and junior artists, streamlining workflows across Maya and Weta’s proprietary VP ecosystem.

  • Contributed to the UI and delivery workflow for the Integration Department’s section of OPS, a studio-wide asset management system used to hand off digital assets and capture references to Live Action and VFX teams in New Zealand.

  • Directed Similitude testing efforts using 1:12 scale models to visualize camera movement and action inside the world’s largest underwater capture facility.
